Gustav Theodore Holst (1874-1934) was an English composer and teacher. He is best known for his orchestral suite, The Planets. Influential composers include Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss and Maurice Ravel. Inspiration also came from the English folksong revival of the early twentieth century, which led Holst to refine his unique compositional style.
