Old MacDonald Had a Farm started as a folk song from the United Kingdom and North America, with similar lyrics appearing as early as 1706 in "In the Fields in Frosty Weather." The version we sing today was first published in 1917 in Selections from the Memories of France, where the farmer was actually named "Old MacDougal." Over time, the song became a favorite around the world.
Old MacDonald had a farm,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
And on that farm he had a duck,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
With a quack-quack here,
And a quack-quack there,
Here a quack, there a quack,
Everywhere a quack-quack.
Old MacDonald had a farm,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
Old MacDonald had a farm,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
And on that farm he had a cow,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
With a moo-moo here,
And a moo-moo there
Here a moo, there a moo,
Everywhere a moo-moo
Old MacDonald had a farm
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
Old MacDonald had a farm,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
And on that farm he had a pig,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
With an oink-oink here,
And an oink-oink there,
Here an oink, there an oink,
Everywhere an oink-oink.
Old MacDonald had a farm
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
Old MacDonald had a farm,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
And on that farm he had a horse,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
With a neigh-neigh here,
And a neigh-neigh there
Here a neigh, there a neigh,
Everywhere a neigh-neigh.
Old MacDonald had a farm,
Ee-i-ee-i-oh!
