Online Piano Academy for Kids

Our Mission at MakingMusicFun.net

Our mission is to design high-quality, pedagogically sound resources that help students read music, understand theory, and express their creativity. We believe in "unplugged" musical moments that prioritize student-teacher connections and real skill-building, over screen time, digital points, and streaks. Because we care about every child’s musical journey, each resource is designed to build kids up in positive ways, help them develop real musical skills, and grow a lifelong appreciation for music and learning.

Andy Fling

About the Creator

Hey everyone! Andy Fling here - the top banana at MakingMusicFun.net.

After 14 awesome years as an elementary school music teacher, I decided to give creating elementary music lesson resources for kids a try. In 2007, I launched MakingMusicFun.net, and from those humble beginnings, we have welcomed 30+ million visitors. I’m still getting out there to teach a few music lessons every week and an occasional general music class, but I’m focused on this wonderful opportunity to meet students' needs and connect with teachers and parents who appreciate music education as much as I do.

My goal for MakingMusicFun.net has always been to make lessons feel more like playtime, because I believe kids learn best when they're having fun. I also believe teacher-to-student and student-to-student interaction is incredibly important, so my music lesson plans are mostly ‘unplugged.’ Instead of screen-focused lessons, teachers and students connect with each other. Students won’t be collecting points and maintaining streaks either—because they don't result in real progress.

I’m grateful to every teacher, parent, and student who has appreciated what I’ve contributed over the last 19 years, and I look forward to many more years of sharing rewarding musical experiences with you.
