Take Me Out to the Ball Game from the MMF! Songbook
History
Take Me Out to the Ball Game was written in 1908 by Jack Norworth (1879-1959), American songwriter, singer and vaudeville performer, while riding a subway train. The song has since become the unofficial anthem of baseball, in-spite of the fact that neither of its authors had ever been to a game.
Lyrics
Take me out to the ball game,
Take me out with the crowds;
Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack,
I don't care if I never get back.
Let me root, root, root for the home team,
If they don't win, it's a shame.
For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out,
At the old ball game.
