Hey there!
High notes are cool and fun to play! During this lesson we will focus on developing your high notes in a smart way. A way that will help you continue to develop a good tone while increasing your upper register.
Since playing high notes with a clear and open sound is our goal, I'm going to show you an exercise that will keep your embouchure relaxed through out the exercise.
Let's begin by playing a long tone on G above middle C. Then rest as long as you played.
Let's play a lower note next - an F#. Lower notes help to relax your embouchure, while the high notes make it tight.
Let's play a higher note - an Ab. Remember to play with full and relaxed sound.
The rest of this exercise follows the same pattern.
You can take it from here. Just continue expanding in each direction. Play a lower note to relax the muscles that form your embouchure, and then follow with a high note. This process will allow you to hit notes you never though you could, and play them with a great tone!
