Hi MMF! Family,

I hope you have enjoyed a great start to your 2011-2012 school year. I have so many wonderful classes and private students this year, and always wish I could teach more. Everytime you print a resource or share a lesson from the MMF! website with one of your students I feel like, in a small way, I am doing just that.

Pick a Bale of Cotton for Piano

Pick a Bale of Cotton for Piano can be used as a resource to teach the Pick a Bale of Cotton | Tempo Terms lesson from the MMF! Lesson Zone. Teach a set of tempo terms to your students. Then ask them to sing and perform the actions to the song as you vary the speed with each repetition. It's kooky fun for everyone!

Make Mom Proud!
Mom always told you how nice it was to share. Right? On the top of every page is a Share! button that lets you tell your Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress, StumbleUpon, etc. friends about everything you found. Make your mom proud!

Drumming in the Music Classroom
Have you ever tried drumming to song lyrics? It's great fun and helps kids to be successful in performing the rhythms they are asked to play. Your lesson could center around quarter note/eighth note rhythms, or simply focus on developing good drumming technique.

Work with the students phrase by phrase, concentrating on good hand position on the drum and tone production. At the end of the period you can share your performance with their homeroom teacher.
