Lesson Details
Emily Avesian is an experienced teacher who focuses on positive instruction tailored to each student. She teaches ages 6 and up and covers a variety of styles including classical, jazz, blues, concert band as well as audition material. Ms. Avesian believes lessons should be fun and motivating while still covering the essentials of music making: scales, theory, musicianship, practice and creativity. Students are encouraged to work with other one another on duets or ensembles and are provided the opportunity to perform.

Ms. Avesian holds a Masters in Music from Arizona State University and Bachelors from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has studied at Brevard Music Center and at the Belgian Clarinet Academy in Oostende. She performs regularly with local theaters, jazz clubs and at galleries. Recent venues include Christ's Church of the Crossroads in Anthem, Phoenix Theater, Johnny's Uptown, and Scottsdale Community College. She holds membership with the American Federation of Musicians and the International Clarinet Society.

"I enjoy the large variety of students which I have the pleasure of teaching. I have a 50 year old student who is working towards playing in a community band or jazz ensemble. I also teach a brother and sister in elementary school who are working through the Faber and Faber series [beginning piano books]. They are learning theory though their own compositions which we often turn into duets."
